SENTENCE ( SUBJECT & PREDICATE)
Subject: Every sentence tells us about somebody or something, for instance if we say, " Paul is a good boy", here the sentence tells us about Paul, if we say , " Milk is good for health", here this sentence tells us about milk. Whatever a sentence tells about is the subject of that sentence such as Paul and Milk are subjects of the above mentioned two examples respectively.
Predicate: We have understood what is the subject in a sentence, now whatever is told about the subject is it's predicate. For instance, if we say, 'Paul is a good boy.', here Paul is the subject and is a good boy is the predicate. Similarly in the sentence, 'Milk is good for health.', Milk is the subject and is good for health is the predicate.
Please note: The subject of a sentence usually comes first but in some cases it can be put after the predicate.
As for example;
'There lives a lion in the jungle.', in this sentence a lion is the subject.
or , if we say . 'Bitter is the consequences of sin.', in this sentence consequences of sin is the subject.
In imperative sentences the subject is usually rather understood than told.
For instance, if we say , 'Sit down,', here the subject is you and we actually mean You sit down, though this you is not told but understood.
