Today our topic is THE NOUN: CASE
A noun can function in 3 (Three) ways in a sentence.
i.
As the subject of the sentence.
Example.
The tiger chased a deer.
ii.
As
the object of a sentence ( A noun that receives the action)
Example:
The tiger killed the deer.
iii.
As
the owner of something.
Example:
The tiger’s den was near the high
hill. (means the tiger is the owner of the den)
Learn & Remember:
When a
noun is the subject of a sentence,
the noun is in subjective or Nominative case.
When a
noun is the object of a sentence,
the noun is in objective or Accusative case.
When a
noun is the owner of something in a sentence, it is in possessive or genitive case.
