Nouns have genders.

NOUNS HAVE GENDER

Living things are either male or female. For instance boy is male and girl is female, king is male and queen is female, lion is male and lioness is female. When a living thing is male, we say it is Masculine in gender, when it is female in nature, we say it is feminine in gender. There are certain community that can be either a male or a female, such as a teacher or a doctor can be either male or female, they are called to be common in gender. Always note that noun is the mother of gender, if a word is not noun, it doesn’t have gender (Generally, with few exceptions).
There are many things we can think of which are noun, but don’t have life, such nouns are called to be from Neuter gender. Such as table has no life, table cannot be male or female , thus it is neuter.

We are talking about today’s English grammar, we are talking about genders, there are many other genders as per today’s calendar, for instance: transgender, there are many other examples. You can search the internet for more information. Grammar deals with three living genders that are masculine, feminine and common; the only non living gender is neuter.
